Melinda (Mindi) Jackson

Owner, Nurse Practictioner

Melinda (Mindi) Jackson, Nurse Practitioner, provides a combination of traditional and alternative medicine practices, focusing on a patient-centered and holistic approach to medicine. She offers time, education, options, and choices to all her patients while adding humor. She believes in empowering her patients, allowing patients to have a voice in their health, with shared-decision making, and bringing hope and faith back into healthcare.

In October 2021, Jackson graduated from Chamberlain University with a Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner. Mindy gained twelve years of nursing experience and one year of teaching her own course development program on bereavement for patients and families.

After graduating as an Advanced Practice, Family Nurse Practitioner, Mindi spent about a year practicing within a Private Practice in Eastern Iowa before opening Altruity Healthcare and Wellness Clinic. In 2019, Mindi was a recipient of 100 Great Iowa Nurses and Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses and was honored as Manchester Chamber of Commerce's 'Woman of the Year.'

Mindi was born and raised in Northeast Iowa, married her high school sweetheart, and together they have four active boys and a daughter who passed away shortly after birth in 2011. Jackson’s hardship gave her the drive and motivation to live out altruism, share humility, care compassionately, and pursue philanthropy. Coming from a small community, experiencing loss, and attending college while raising a family, Mindi understands the importance of advocating for her patients, providing education, and offering patients a voice and choice, in their healthcare.

I came to Mindi about a year ago when she first opened her doors at Altruity because I had been having several months to even years of fatigue, lack of energy, aches, chronic pain, unusual weight gain, and just overall not feeling my best. When I saw her for the first time it was a lengthy appointment with a barrage of lab work, questions, and digging deep into my medical history, etc. From there we discovered several abnormalities in labs and Mindi worked (and continues to work) diligently to improve things one step at a time. Whether it was changing/adding medications, suggesting supplements or treatments, or coming in to get vitamin B12/vitamin D injections. She also was able to get me into physical therapy along with the pain clinic to work on my chronic pain issues (which have improved a lot). I was able to utilize her IV therapies at times when I needed an overall hydration/vitamin boost or feeling the onset of an illness. She impressed me from the beginning with her expansive knowledge and integrative and holistic practice.  Her approach and how she looks at things are a bit different and unique compared to other primary care providers I have seen. She has continued to follow my progress and work collaboratively with me on any changes that need to be made to my wellness care along the way.  She has been compassionate, and understanding, and takes the time to listen and work with me to find a root cause for my problems instead of masking them with additional unnecessary medications. Recently she was able to do pharmacogenetic testing as a way of choosing the right medication and dosing that is the best fit for me based on my specific genetics. Her integrative approach, compassionate energy, and passion for the future of Altruity are ultimately why I chose to go to her!
